Listening Sessions - FAQs

How to Participate
You need to click the “Join” button on the Listening session and link your Spotify account to participate
Once you do this, you can listen to the song on your mobile phone, web, or desktop version.
You don't need to keep the sesh app open while streaming.
Spotify Accounts
Both Spotify Free and Premium account holders can participate.
Spotify Free users are suggested to use the desktop app or web player after joining the Listening Session, as they cannot play a specific song on mobile and songs are played randomly instead.
Counting your Streams
We receive the play count directly from Spotify, regardless of where the song was played. It is not necessary to press the “Listen” button in the sesh App.
We count all plays verified by Spotify. If Spotify counts it, so do we.
We update the play count every hour, but be patient, sometimes it can take longer. Rest assured that all plays will count in the end.
Logging out and in continuously will not positively affect the count.
Troubleshooting
What if I'm playing the song but the stream count hasn't changed?
Check if any of the following solutions resolve the issue:
If your phone is in power-saving mode, we may not be able to request a data update. Once recharged, restart the sesh and Spotify apps to force the count update.
Restart the Spotify app and play the song again.
You can clear the Spotify app cache, here is a link with instructions.
Your Spotify account might have been unlinked. If so, we will notify you within the sesh app. Make sure to link it again.
Ensure you have the latest version of the sesh app installed.
If you leave your phone playing the song on loop and on mute for a long time, Spotify might stop counting. Try playing it from the PC or from the phone with some volume.
